Liposuction is not a weight-loss surgery .It is a body contouring procedure that removes localized fat deposits to achieve physical slimming and shaping. In short, it is not performed for weight loss purposes. Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure where fat is removed from specific areas of the body using a specialized vacuum or cannulas, thereby sculpting the body.
Liposuction is typically recommended for individuals over 18 years of age, in good general health, following a stable diet and exercise regimen, and with stubborn pockets of fat in certain body areas. It can be performed under local anesthesia for small areas, a combination of local anesthesia and sedation (intravenous sedation) for larger regional areas, or general anesthesia for extensive procedures. The duration of the operation varies depending on the condition of the areas being treated, ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Recovery process after liposuction
After the operation, the patient is bandaged and fitted with a special liposuction garment (compression garment). Depending on the size of the operation and the type of anesthesia used, the patient may be discharged from the hospital the same day or within one day. The liposuction garment (compression garment) needs to be worn for approximately 5 weeks. The entry points for the liposuction cannulas are typically 2-4 mm in size and become barely noticeable within 3 months. By the third week, you will start to notice the new shape that the operation has given your body. The liposuction area typically reaches its final shape between 6 months to 1 year.
